Vorticism- Overview

Vorticism was an early 20th century art movement. Partly inspired by cubism the movement was short-lived(lasting less then a year) and was founded by artist, writer and polemicist Wynham Lewis. Whom was joined by a group of avant-garde British artist such as Lawrence Atikson ,William Roberts and Helen Saunders.

Vorticism is closely linked to Futurism and was first announced in the first issue of BLAST, with a manifesto,

Vorticism work can be is distinct for it's hard-edged abstract paintings or sculptes usually depicting machinery and urban environment.
